Logistics has been part of Ipanova's historical core from the start. Our teams of consultants work as close as possible to the business lines. Whether resolving incidents, adjusting processes or training teams in best practices, our consultants support the day-to-day operations of major Toulouse accounts.
Becoming an SAP partner for the Supply Chain portfolio was therefore a natural and successful evolution. (Re)discover what is at stake with Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), the flagship solution of the Supply Chain portfolio.

SAP EWM: advanced warehouse management

SAP EWM is the SAP module dedicated to advanced management of logistics operations in the warehouse. This solution enables real-time control, full traceability, and fine-tuned optimisation of logistics resources. Among its key features:

- Goods receipt, put-away, order picking and shipping, from the gates of the logistics site through to the final storage bin, and back again.
- Real-time stock management with graphical display of storage bins, and continuous stock counting alongside the other logistics activities.
- Management of human and material resources within the warehouse
- Integration with RFID technologies, mobile terminals and automated systems
- Orchestration of complex, multi-site logistics flows

From SAP WM to EWM: a strategic transition that goes beyond the technical scope

The right to use WM in SAP S/4HANA On-Premise under compatibility mode, expires on 31 December 2025 (SAP note 2577428 - Roadmap for LE-WM in SAP S/4HANA), migrating to EWM is becoming a necessity for companies still running this legacy solution. This transition goes beyond the technical scope and raises real business stakes: it involves strategic choices about deployment, a functional redesign and a redefinition of logistics processes. EWM introduces a new operating logic (dedicated warehouse management documents, separation of physical and logical flows, and so on), with capabilities far beyond those of WM. It is an opportunity to optimise warehouse management further and to aim for operational excellence.

Migrating from WM to EWM calls for the involvement of an experienced integrator, able to:
- Carry out a precise scoping of business needs and existing logistics flows, in order to propose the right solutions available in EWM.
- Support users through the change
- Guarantee a secure migration with no business disruption
- Configure and customise the solution in line with the specifics of each business

How is SAP EWM deployed?

SAP EWM offers 2 deployment approaches.

SAP Embedded EWM : embedded directly in S/4HANA, ideal for medium-sized logistics sites or for companies looking for simplified integration with the ERP core.

SAP Decentralized EWM : deployed on a separate system, recommended for complex logistics environments or high-volume warehouses with advanced automation. This deployment approach can also run with a third-party ERP, using standard connection systems (IDocs, REST, OData).

SAP EWM is SAP's solution of the future for optimising logistics. With SAP's Supply Chain partnership, Ipanova is extending its ability to support companies. As a specialised SAP integrator, we provide our clients with a team of EWM experts combining technical skills with a fine understanding of logistics business issues. Our project approach guarantees a controlled transition, rapid adoption of the new practices, and a successful migration of logistics data.
